Alamoot is a yearly picnic held and organized once a year by a group of Iranian Ismailies who live in North America. The picnic is held each year, usually in July on a Saturday or Sunday. It is usually held in a location close to both, those who live in U.S and those who live in Canada. In other words, it is a half way meeting point between U.S and Canada so its close to both countries. Until now, it was held regularly in Niagra Falls, almost half way between the two countries, Canada and the U.S. However, this year, it was held in another location, Roger's Acres in Pickering, Ontario. Each year, during the Alamoot picnic, there are a number of other Iranian Ismailies who come to this picnic as visitors. These visitors are mainly from Iran and any other country where the Ismailies live. The most recent Alamoot picnic was held on July 5, 08 in Roger's Acres, Pickering, Ontario, where we had a large number of people from Canada, followed by U.S and some visitors from Germany and England.
It was a nice sunny day and a large group of people came to the picnic and enjoyed themselves by spending time with other family members and friends. Once at the park, you could play vollyball or soccer or simply walk along the nice beach. You could also just sit in the shade and have a conversation with a family member or a friend whom you may have not seen for a while.
